Spiritual Direction Internship 2026 - 2027 HYBRID model

The Spiritual Direction Internship is ecumenical in nature and designed for persons who feel called to accompany others on their life journey. The focus is how to be with directee’s as they reflect on life and their relationship with  God.

• The internship is experiential in nature. Its content unfolds in the context of group process and reflection. The Internship experience includes peer group supervision, assigned readings, and practice in the art of Spiritual Direction, as well as 5 in person retreats.
• The internship begins with a weekend intensive in January 2026 and meets weekly through zoom with another in person retreat May 29 – May 31. Summer break and then a third in person retreat September  11, 12 & 13, followed by weekly zoom sessions consisting of three hours.  Time will be determined by the group.  Fourth in person retreat Jan. 2027.  Closing retreat is April 9, 10 & 11, 2027 at Nazareth Retreat Center.

Qualifications

• An on-going experience of personal spiritual direction
• A commitment to engage in experiential learning
• An ability to companion others in a one-to-one relationship
• Background in Theology and Spirituality
• A minimum of five years in ministry

Requirements

• Each intern will see two directee’s
• Interns must make one silent directed retreat
• Interns are encouraged to attend two workshops recommended by the Staff.
• Interns must be present for all the in person retreats.

• Application Process

Those seeking admission to the internship in Spiritual Direction please submit the following:

• An autobiography that includes your spiritual journey (4-5 pages)
• Three letters of recommendations from persons who know you well. Include a referral from at least one person who has experience of you in ministry.
• Personal statement of what you expect from the internship and why you desire it at this time
• All application materials, including the application fee by November 3, 2025.
• After receipt of the above materials, a personal interview will be arranged with the internship staff.

To register for the internship please complete the online registration form along with $100 fee.  Payment for additional fees will be in installment payments once accepted.

HYBRID MODEL – 5 in person weekend retreats at Nazareth plus 38,  3 hour sessions through zoom.

Application fee is $100.00   Total Cost for program is $5,000 to be paid in installments.  Scholarships available.
